What is professional mentoring, and how is it different from coaching?

Professional mentoring is a relationship where an experienced professional supports your career growth by offering insights, guidance, and feedback based on real-world experience. Unlike coaching, which often focuses on specific skills or performance metrics, mentoring is more holistic — it's about long-term development, decision-making support, and navigating transitions or leadership challenges.

Who is this mentoring for?

This service is ideal for professionals at a career crossroads, stepping into leadership, or seeking growth but unsure of the next move.

In my experience no two mentees are alike. And that's why my Mentor121 service has nothing standard or "off the shelf" - it's all customised to you the individual and I'm working with.

Recent Mentee clients have included individuals making career shifts, dealing with anxiety, self-doubt, questioning themselves. They have been Founders, Directors, Managers and Senior Executives.

What kinds of topics can we cover in mentoring sessions?

Great question. This one comes up a lot. As we get to know each other the topics can be wide-ranging as we unravel interconnected factors that may have been holding you back.

Typically our sessions will cover professional progress topics like:

  • Navigating organisational dynamics

But they also often move deeper into areas about:

Typically we take time early on to unravel and understand and in later sessions we will work more on progress and growth.

Great question. Mentoring works best when there's trust and chemistry. That’s why we start with a Discovery Call — to explore your needs, goals, and whether the dynamic feels right.

There’s no pressure. And it's free of charge. The relationship has to feel right for us both.

Mentoring is offered in structured 1:1 sessions (usually 60 minutes) online or by phone.

Programs can be short-term (3 months) or ongoing, depending on your needs. We’ll begin with a Discovery Call to align on goals and approach, then move to regular sessions - typically monthly or bi-weekly.
